What is a COP15?

COP stands for Conference of the Parties.COP stands for Conference of the Parties. It is the highest body of the United Nations Climate Change Convention and consists of environment ministers who meet once a year to discuss the convention’s developments.

Who is taking part in the conference, and how many people?

193 countries will take part.It is expected that ministers and officials from 193 countries will take part. In addition, there will be participants from a large number of organisations.

When is the conference taking place?

7 to 18 December 2009 The conference will last two weeks from 7 to 18 December 2009. The conference will take place in the Bella Center in Copenhagen.

What should come out of the conference?

Climate agreement for the period from 2012.The overall goal for the 2009 (COP15) United Nations Climate Change Conference hosted by Denmark is to establish an ambitious global climate agreement for the period from 2012.
